After five days Model United Nations conference in Taipei, I and my friend, Leo, had a precious chance to visit the home of hot spring in Taiwan, Beitou. In fact, we just made a decision in the early morning. Because our researcher last night was in vain, we decide to go to the library and look for some information about the place which won’t take us much time but we could still have fun, however, we didn’t find anywhere. Thus, in the early morning, I called my cousin for help, he told us we could pay a visit to Beitou, then we decided to take his advice.
We had our breakfast at a hotel and placed our baggage at the Taipei train station. When we were on the train, we found that there were two similar stations, one was call Beitou, the other was called New Beitou, this really confused us a lot, so I called my cousins for help again, without, we may go nowhere. New Beitou was built for the tourism, its train was unique as well, you could learn something about Beitou through the videos on the train. When arriving, the first thought came to our minds was to find a map, otherwise, we would get lost. Then, we begin our one-day trip in Beitou.
The air in Beitou was fresh, but one thing disappoints me was its surroundings, the office buildings were just a few miles away the tourists area, this didn’t make sense at all. We first checked the aboriginals museum out, the buildings was majestic, however, there were just two floors for the exhibition, the others were for the office work. There were many kids, seems they were had the field trip, they followed the staff of the museum, and the staff led them to sing and dance with the aboriginal songs, we just stood beside, I thought they must have lots of fun. We stay at the museum for roughly 30 minutes, and we headed to the Beitou library, which I had seen it several times in my textbooks. The building was green architecture, there were pound and abundant of trees surrounding the building, besides, a stream was flowing through it, it was just so “green”. Although taking picture was not allowed inside, I still couldn’t resist my desire to do it, but just a few. The design of the library was excellent, such as the light, space arrangement, and even the materials of the floor, all made me want to stay there and study for a whole day. The building had two floors, there weren’t many people, but I saw some student studying hard seems to prepare the coming university entrance exam. I picked a book randomly and started to read, just wanted to experience the feeling reading there, to my disappointed, I couldn’t stay for even a little longer because we still got some places to visit
Prior to having the lunch, we went to the Beitou hot spring museum, it was a must-see in Beitou. Hot spring, the most significant factor led to the success of Beitou. Dated back to the Japanese colonial era, the small town, Beitou had gradually turned into one of the most important towns resulted from the hot spring, and came along with a big fortune. However, the fame of Beitou faded away afterwards, all of the things seemed to stagnate, then, with the effort of the government, Beitou bounced over from the bottom, government combined the traditional industry with the tourism, successfully, the economy grew again, and the hot spring was again appealed people to visit Beitou. If you ask why I knew this, I will tell you it is because of the museum, inside the museum, there were lots of posters and guide to make us understand more about the Beitou, moreover, the museum preserved many remaining such as the old movie post, the ole document, and especially the tub. At the down floor, there was a huge Rome style tub, I thought it could roughly accommodate twenty persons at the same time, it was pretty worth seeing this. I thought this museum didn't only preserve the remaining well, but also serve a place to make no matter locals or visitors see the past glory of Beitou, then made Beitou famous again.
After visiting three straight places, we decided to fill up our stomach, store some energy for the afternoon. In the afternoon, we went more deeply, along with the river bank, with 15 fifteen minutes, we finally reached a secret place, that was Beitou thermal valley, a must-see in Beitou as well. In the entrance, we could not see the anything, but as we walked further, we can merely saw a wisp of white smoke rising from the bottom, we couldn’t wait to see it, so we ran to the valley. When we got there, I was almost hooked, the valley was not so big, but the thing make my stifle was the continuous white smoke rising from the bottom of the valley, and little did I knew the smoke would keep rising for the eternal time. I looked into the valley, I found there was not merely a creature living there, then I realize the condition was pretty tough here. We took lots of pictures with different posts, like the one in Titanic, sometimes we had to wait for the more dense, in order to make the picture more vivid, I felt like I was the son of fog, it was so cool!
The thermal valley was our last schedule in Beitou, and in Taipei as well, we took the High-Speed Railway back to Kaohsiung, on the way back home, I kept recollecting all the memoirs I stay in Taipei, I thought this trip just could not be better.
